You are wise
From time to time, Nicholas Ridge CTA gets asked questions which it is none of the Firm’s business to pretend to know how to answer.
Thus, when a French client, Mr F, who runs a business in UK, felt threatened by a website offering products similar to those of his own business, and which was getting higher rankings on Google searches; when he asked Nicholas Ridge CTA for advice, the Firm referred him to a known and trusted contact who is a solicitor specialising in IP, intellectual property rights cases.
The solicitor advised Mr F to write to the rival website operators threatening passing-off actions and asking for compensation. Nicholas Ridge CTA quietly reminded both parties that the main object of the exercise was to stop the rival company imitating the client’s web site, not to extort money. Instead, reserving the right to take action if they did not desist might prove a more productive option.
The client’s verdict: you are a wise accountant.
