Brexit Negotiations, Written to The Times
In reading your article in Saturday’s Times about the indecision and bumbling associated with Britain’s planning of its 1917 war campaign in the Autumn of 1916, I could not help but draw parallels with the preparations underway for the Brexit negotiations. Both cases illustrate the need for inventiveness, clarity, and leadership in dealing with unprecedented and threatening situations.
I urge those involved, administrators; experts; leaders, to study the article and to show humility in approaching their task, next year.
If not, they themselves may be the subject of a corresponding report in 100 years time, sadly reflecting on opportunities missed and failure.
